MOSCOW, October 22 (RIA Novosti) - Russia still cannot see European Commission’s willingness to find financing, which would enable Ukraine to purchase gas, Russian Energy minister Alexander Novak said in an interview with Rossiya-24 TV channel on Wednesday.
“We have suggested that out European colleagues consider the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Monetary Fund, other international financial organizations… there are resources, but we cannot see any willingness to work in this direction from our European colleagues who were supposed to be searching for sources of financing for Ukraine for the past six months,” Novak said.
"There is a resource, in fact, but we do not see yet the desire to work in this direction with our European colleagues who had to, during the six months... seek financial resources to ensure the solvency of Ukraine," the minister added.
Russia-Ukraine-EU talks on Ukraine’s gas crisis were held on October 21 in Brussels. Ukrainian Energy Minister Yuriy Prodan, his Russian counterpart Alexander Novak and the EU Energy Commissioner Gunther Oettinger participated in the talks. The talks mainly touched the issues of temporary gas deliveries to Ukraine from Russia and the repayment of the Ukrainian gas debt.
