After fight taken place in Ankara University between supporters of outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party and Turkish nationalists five people were hurt.

ANKARA, October 21 (RIA Novosti) - Five people were injured in clashes between students supporting the Kurdistan Workers' Party and members of the Turkish Youth Union at Ankara University Tuesday.

Clashes occurred because of ideological differences between Ankara University's students allegedly sharing the ideas of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party and members of the left-wing nationalist Turkish Youth Union, Turkish Hurriyet newspaper reported Tuesday.

Students used batons and knives, forcing police to take strict security measures, according to the newspaper. Classes at the faculty where the incident took place have been suspended.

The tensions came following mass protests in southeastern Turkey in support of the Kurdish population of Kobani, a town in Syria fighting the Islamic State. Protesters took to the streets earlier in October to demonstrate their disapproval of Turkey's non-interference policy in respect of the developments in Kobani.
