WASHINGTON, October 24 (RIA Novosti) - The fluid situation in Canada's capital city of Ottawa, a day after a shooting took place near parliament Wednesday, does not threat US security, a spokesperson for the US Department of State stated.
"There's no specific reporting to indicate ongoing events in Canada pose a threat to the United States," Jen Psaki said during a press briefing Thursday.
Psaki also noted that the US Embassy in Ottawa was open and all embassy personnel were accounted for. The embassy was put on lockdown for most of Wednesday shortly after the shootings occurred.
On Wednesday morning, a gunman shot dead a soldier guarding the National War Memorial in Ottawa and then proceeded to Parliament Hill's Center Block where he was killed in a shootout with a policeman.
