Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency has joined the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) on October 1.

MOSCOW, October 23 (RIA Novosti) – Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency has joined the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) on October 1.

The organization serves as a platform for members to share opinions, information and experience, and will allow Rossiya Segodnya to present the agency’s projects and share successful media technologies. In addition, membership in WAN-IFRA will give the agency access to the most advanced international practices and models for strategic, commercial and technological development of the media industry.

“Rossiya Segodnya is a leading news organization with a dynamic team of journalists, editors and managers looking to join and contribute to development of the media industry in the world. The company went through an ambitious transformation plan in the recent two years and it's a privilege to welcome them in our world community of news professionals. I am convinced they will bring a lot to our projects for the future of the news publishing industry”, said Vincent Peyregne, Chief Executive Officer of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA).

WAN-IFRA is a leading international institution specializing in the promotion and protection of the rights and interests of its members from the global media community.

Its activities are aimed at protecting the freedom of speech, economic independence and editorial integrity of media organizations, promoting quality journalism and developing business and technology in the media industry.

Dmitry Kiselev, Director General of Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency, commented on the occasion: “We are very proud to find ourselves among the members of the WAN-IFRA family. With over 3,000 members from 120 countries, including 79 national associations, 2000 publishing houses and news agencies, 1000 service providers in the field of media production, as well as consultants and media analysts, WAN-IFRA sets the standards for cooperation and experience sharing in the print and electronic media segments.

The international events and discussion forums sponsored by WAN-IFRA will provide Rossiya Segodnya with opportunities to present its media strategies and experience and to help increase the role and effectiveness of media in modern society.
