MOSCOW, October 23 (RIA Novosti) – Two American priests have become instant Internet sensations, after a video showing their seminary dance-off in Vatican has gone viral, AP reported.
Reverend David Rider, 29, from New York and Reverend John Gibson, 28, from Milwaukee started a tap dancing duel on stage. Journalist Joan Lewis recorded the dance-off and posted the video online, where it went viral and was watched by almost 260,000 viewers, the Irish Central said.
“All of a sudden the numbers started rising and rising”, Lewis said, as quoted by AP.
The video has received plenty of admiration. However, there were those who criticized the priests for dancing under a crucifix and a painting of Pope Francis I, calling the act “disrespectful”.
One of the dancers, John Gibson, has turned out to be a long-time dancer, having started his dancing career at the age of 12. During his nine-year dance career, Gibson managed to reach the top 10 in US national competitions and the top 15 in world championships, the Catholic Herald reported.
