MOSCOW, October 24 (RIA Novosti) - The governor of the Mexican state Guerrero Angel Aguirre has resigned to help find the students gone missing at the end of September.
"Based on Article 84 of the Constitution of the State of Guerrero, I asked the local Congress to suspend my responsibilities as governor. Thanks to everyone who gave me their trust and support," Aguirre wrote on his Twitter account.
According to media records, Aguirre resigned to help find the students who went missing at the end of September after staging protests against educational reforms.
On September 26, 43 students went missing in Iguala, Guerrero after the police intervened in the protests against educational reforms. A number of policemen suspected of causing harm to the students were detained later by the investigators
On October 10, burial pits with 15 bodies were found in Iguala, prompting the police to find clues related to the case.
