MOSCOW, October 25 (RIA Novosti) - People inside the Sheraton hotel in the US city of Phoenix, Arizona are being evacuated after reports of several explosions on Saturday, ABC15 reported.
Phoenix Fire Department said their crews are on the scene of the incident, however there is no active fire, only smoke, the TV network said.
There is no information about possible casualties or the cause of the explosions, though media said electrical problems could have caused the fire.
Firefighters have blocked off the streets and sidewalks around the affected building. They said fire crews had responded to multiple reports of explosion at the hotel near 3rd and Van Buren streets.
The 31-storey building has been safely evacuated, the New York Daily News said. Hotel guests and employees were shown huddled together outside the building as some 100 firefighters in gas marks went in to investigate the source of the alleged blasts.
AZ Central has reported that thick smoke was seen billowing from one of the utility room. It cited officials as saying an electrical issue could have started fire in the first floor or in the basement.
