KIEV, October 26 (RIA Novosti) - Almost 40 percent of Ukrainians have voted in the snap parliamentary elections as of 4 p.m. local time (13:00 GMT), the Central Election Commission said Sunday.
Voter turnout was counted in 58 constituencies across the country, with the western region Ivano-Frankivsk reporting the highest attendance rate of 48.53 percent.
The Luhansk region brought up the rear with only 23.16 percent. The turnout in the nation's capital Kiev is at 40.98 percent.
Early parliamentary elections are underway in Ukraine. Ukrainians are going to the polls to vote in 424 members of parliament — 225 of them from party lists and 199 in single-candidate constituencies. The electoral threshold has been set at 5 percent.
