WASHINGTON, October 27 (RIA Novosti) - Only 333 out of 6573 voters registered at Washington DC polling station have cast their vote in the Ukrainian parliamentary election showing a turnout of only 5 percent, the head of the election committee at the Ukrainian Embassy in the US told RIA Novosti.
"333 people voted at the polling station," Maxim Gubsky said, adding that the voting went without any incidents.
Gubsky said that 6573 voters are registered at the polling station in Washington DC. In May some 500 of them voted in the presidential elections.
President Petro Poroshenko dissolved the 450-seat Verkhovna Rada in August and ordered snap general elections to ensure a pro-Europe majority in the parliament while clearing out lawmakers loyal to ex-leader Viktor Yanukovych.
Early parliamentary elections were held in Ukraine on Sunday, October 26. Ukrainians went to the polls to vote in 423 members of parliament — 225 of them from party lists and 198 in single-candidate constituencies. The electoral threshold has been set at five percent.
