KIEV, October 28 (RIA Novosti) — The constituent meeting of the Council of Ukraine-EU Association has been scheduled for mid-December, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis said Tuesday.
"We are continuing with the preparation for the first joint meetings of the [Ukraine-EU] Association bodies, established by the agreement," Perebyinis told reporters in Kiev.
"In particular, we are planning to hold the constituent meeting of the Council of Ukraine-EU Association in mid-December this year," the official said.
In September, Ukraine and the EU parliament ratified the economic and political parts of the Association Agreement.
The political provisions of the association agreement between Ukraine and the European Union were signed back in March, after ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych was ousted and the new interim government came to power.
The economic part of the agreement was signed by current Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in June. However, the implementation of its core part, the free trade zone, will not come into effect until 2016.
