MOSCOW, October 28 (RIA Novosti) — Russia is to be represented in this year’s Miss World competition by 20-year-old Rostov native Anastasia Kostenko, who came second in the this year’s Miss Russia competition.
“We are happy to announce that this year Russia will be represented by Anastasia Kostenko, runner-up in Miss Russia 2014,” the competition website announced on Tuesday. According to the press service, before taking part in this year’s competition Kostenko was a professional ballet dancer, having finished Rostov College of Art where she specialized in Art of Ballet.
Kostenko was born in March 1994 in the town of Salsk, in the Rostov region. Following her successful participation in the Miss Russia competition she moved to Moscow and began studying Journalism at the People’s Friendship University of Russia.
The Miss World competition will begin in London on November 20, and continue for three and a half weeks. The competition’s press service announces that “during this period participants will take part in competitions of talent, national costume, “Miss Top Model”, swimsuits, “Miss Sport” and also present to the jury a charity project they are carrying out in their country.”
The yearly competition is one of the most prestigious international beauty pageants. The title is currently held by 24-year-old Megan Young from the Philippines, who was crowned September 28 2013.
