MOSCOW, October 29 (RIA Novosti) — The shares of Orbital Sciences Corporation, the developer of the Antares rocket, which exploded in Virginia, US on Tuesday, plummeted by 16.79 percent on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on Wednesday.
By 04:02 p.m. New York time [20:02 GMT] on Wednesday, the shares of Orbital Sciences Corporation dropped to $25.27 per share compared with $30.37 yesterday.
The company's top management are looking into this problem with investors and analysts in an attempt to find a solution.
On Tuesday, the Antares rocket with a Cygnus spacecraft, which was carrying over two tons of cargo to the International Space Station (ISS), exploded six seconds into its takeoff from the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia, the United States.
NASA said the supplies the ISS currently has will suffice before March 2015 in case no other spacecraft flies to the space station until then.
A special commission has been set up in the United States to investigate the circumstances and causes of the explosion. According to the NASA officials the investigation will take up to a year.
