DONETSK, November 1 (RIA Novosti) — Negotiations between Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and the Kiev authorities may resume after the elections take place in the self-proclaimed republic, Deputy Prime Minister of DPR Andrei Purgin told RIA Novosti Saturday.

"Europe and Russia are interested in their [negotiations between DPR and Kiev] renewal. And as the contacts between Europe and Russia are intensive, we can assume that we will soon be invited to talks," Purgin said.

According to Purgin, the new negotiations with Kiev might prove more productive than those held in Minsk in September. He said it was necessary that every point of the agreement was discussed separately for the parties to adhere to it.

On September 5, a meeting of representatives from Ukraine, Russia and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) took place in Minsk, which saw a ceasefire agreement signed between Kiev and the self-proclaimed people's republics of Donetsk and Luhansk. Additional ceasefire provisions were agreed upon during the second meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine, which was again held in Minsk about two weeks later.

On Wednesday, the DPR authorities called on Ukraine to observe the upcoming elections on November 2.

The self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR) have set the elections for their regional leaders and legislative bodies for November 2. DPR and LPR want full independence for the whole territory within the borders of the respective administrative entities in Ukraine. According to Kiev, the upcoming elections in DPR and LPR would threaten the peace process in the region.
