MOSCOW, November 1 (RIA Novosti) — Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on conferring the Order of Honor on Total CEO Christophe de Margerie for his big contribution to the Russian-French relations.
"For his big contribution to the Russian-French economic and cultural relations to confer the Order of Honor on Christophe de Margerie – the president and chairperson of the Board of Directors of the concern 'Total', citizen of the French Republic (posthumously)," the decree published on the Kremlin's website Saturday said.
Total CEO Christophe de Margerie died when a Falcon 50 business jet crashed on October 20 at Moscow's Vnukovo-3 Airport. The incident happened when the aircraft, which was to fly to Paris, hit a snow removal vehicle when taking off. The three crew members also died in the crash. De Margerie was the only passenger on board.
