Due to the strike at the Fiumicino airport in Italy, hundreds of passengers are facing problems in obtaining their baggage.

ROME, November 2 (RIA Novosti) — Italian national airline Alitalia's employees, responsible for loading and unloading baggage, have declared a strike opposing staff cuts, which could affect nearly 1,000 people, Corriere della Sera newspaper reported Sunday.

According to the newspaper, the strike has begun on Sunday morning after some of the staff members, who were supposed to work Monday, received a notice of dismissal and found that their electronic profiles were blocked. In solidarity with their colleagues, the Alitalia loaders, who were not affected by the layoffs, refused to do their job.

Due to the strike, hundreds of passengers are facing problems in obtaining their baggage, Corriere della Sera stated.

Alitalia has reactivated the profiles of the dismissed employees, but the protesters have refused to end the strike.

A similar strike took place at the Fiumicino airport in August. Then, the protest has lasted for several days. About 20 thousand pieces of luggage were not delivered to their owners on time.
