MANAMA, November 3 (RIA Novosti) – Tehran is ready to sign a final deal with the P5+1 if the group of international mediators officially recognizes Iran's right to develop peaceful nuclear energy, the country's foreign minister said.
Iran is ready to sign a final agreement on its nuclear program with the six international mediators if they officially recognize the country's peaceful nuclear rights, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was cited as saying by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Sunday.
Zarif made the comment following a meeting with Norwegian Foreign Minister Borge Brende. According to IRNA, Brende expressed hope that talks between Iran and the P5+1 group will end successfully soon. Brende also said that a new nuclear deal with Iran will create new opportunities in ties between Iran and the European Union.
The next round of negotiations on Iran's nuclear program is scheduled to take place on November 11 in Muscat, Oman, according to Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Abbas Araqchi.
In November 2013, during talks held in Geneva, the P5+1 group of international mediators comprising Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, China, and Germany agreed to reach a deal with Tehran, guaranteeing the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program, by July 2014. The deadline for the agreement was later postponed to November 2014.
The West has been accusing Iran of attempting to develop nuclear weapons under the guise of a civilian nuclear program, while Tehran argues that its nuclear development is aimed purely at meeting the country's growing energy needs and achieving other peaceful goals.
