LONDON, November 3 (RIA Novosti) — Crimes committed against foreign tourists in the Russian capital are exceptionally rare, Moscow's Committee for Tourism and Hotel Industry head Sergei Shpilko said Monday.
"Every year we receive information… on how many crimes were committed against foreign tourists. In the last two years — 2012 and 2013 — there were 32 such incidents, all of them were not grave, except for just one," Shpilko said in London at the World Travel Market (WTM), a three-day international fare.
He also added that such a low crime rate is incomparable to that of any other major city in the world, such as Moscow.
The number of tourists staying in hotels and hostels in Moscow has been at almost 6 million for the past few years, according to official statistics.
