MOSCOW, November 5 (RIA Novosti) — Democrat Jeanne Shaheen has boosted the lead over her Republican challenger Scott Brown in New Hampshire, which is billed as a key state in the ongoing US midterm elections, CNN reported early Wednesday.
Shaheen is in the lead with 56 percent, which is over 26,700 votes, while Brown has 44 percent, or 21,300 votes.
New Hampshire is considered to be a battleground state in elections, with some 48 percent of its voters registered as independents.
Currently, Democrats are tipped to control Illinois, New Jersey, and Massachusetts, according to Fox News.
On Tuesday, Americans voted in the midterm elections. Congressional elections are held two years in the middle of the president's four-year term. The Republicans have a majority in the House of Representatives but are looking to also take control of the Senate, where the Democrats currently have a 55 — 45 majority.
