Great Britain's bill has been halved and would be paid in July and September next year.

MOSCOW, November 7 (RIA Novosti) — Britain will pay only half of the £1.7 billion ($2.6 billion) budget surcharge demanded by the European Union, Prime Minister David Cameron stated Friday.

"I said we wouldn't pay £1.7bn on December 1st. We've now halved the bill and will pay nothing until next July. We're delivering for Britain," Cameron wrote on his Facebook account.

The payment is to be made in two installments in July and September next year.

Earlier on Friday, Cameron said that in the event of a final disagreement, the EU and the United Kingdom would have "a major problem."

At the end of October, the European Union demanded that the United Kingdom make an additional contribution in the amount of £1.7 billion to the EU's budget. Before today's agreement, Britain said it would not comply with the demand.
