MOSCOW, November 7 (RIA Novosti) — The Israeli Foreign Ministry has sent a classified telegram instructing all country’s missions abroad to stop issuing visas to citizens of the Ebola-hit countries, including Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria, the Haaretz newspaper reported on Friday.

According to the newspaper, the missions have been warned to keep instructions secret.

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that Ebola has claimed some 4,960 lives since the start of the current outbreak in December 2013. The outbreak began in Guinea and later spread to Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Senegal, however, Senegal and Nigeria have recently been declared free of Ebola by the WHO. Few cases of the disease have also been registered outside of West Africa, including in the United States and in Europe.

There is currently no officially approved medication for the disease, but several countries are now working on developing a drug to halt the virus spreading further.
