Iran wants the sanctions to be lifted immediately, if the world wants to resolve the issue of the Iranian nuclear program. In November 2013, during talks held in Geneva, the P5+1 group agreed to reach a deal with the Tehran delegation guaranteeing the peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program by July 2014.

MOSCOW, November 10 (RIA Novosti) — The main unresolved issue at the talks on the Iranian nuclear program are the sanctions that have been placed on Iran, as the country wants them to be lifted the very day an agreement is signed on the nation's nuclear program, newspaper Kommersant reported Monday, citing an unnamed diplomatic source.

According to the source, the international mediators and Iran have yet not reached an agreement on one major point – the lifting of sanctions on the country. "Practically all the technical details of the agreement have already been agreed upon, some issues still remain but they are all solvable if there is political will."

Iran wants the sanctions to be lifted immediately, "on the day the agreement is published" but this variant does not seem realistic, Kommersant's source said.

"There are unilateral sanctions and there are the measures taken by the UN Security Council. Lifting them will take time," the source explained.

At the upcoming talks Tehran and the so-called P5+1 group, comprising the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, China and Germany, will discuss tying the issue of lifting the sanctions to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reports on Iran's nuclear program, according to the newspaper.

Citing a source familiar with the P5+1 and Iran negotiations process, the newspaper said that there are two probable ways of solving this problem: "Either a part of sanctions will be lifted automatically after each report on Iran is published, or we will gather every time to discuss the details of the next step."

The United States and a broad coalition of governments have imposed sanctions on Iran over its controversial nuclear program, which Iran claims is of purely peaceful nature. Last January the United States agreed to provide limited sanctions relief if Iran froze its nuclear program. Since then, Iran has halted production and opened its doors to international inspectors.

In November 2013, during talks held in Geneva, the P5+1 group agreed to reach a deal with the Tehran delegation guaranteeing the peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program by July 2014. The deadline was later extended to November 24, 2014.

The group's next round of talks with Tehran is scheduled to take place on November 11 in Muscat, Oman.
