MOSCOW, November 10 (Sputnik) — New media brand Sputnik, set up by IIA Rossiya Segodnya for international audiences and designed to provide an alternative perspective on world events, went online on November 10. Radio Sputnik’s correspondent Anastasya Fyodorova comments on the occasion and recounts the official presentation on the new brand.
“The presentation was really impressive. Lots of guests came to view this new project – Sputnik International Multimedia Resource,” Fyodorova said. “I have to say that it is even more exciting than it was expected. Some of us have been behind the scenes and saw all of the efforts and all the hard work that has been going on.”
Sputnik, Fyodorova said, will go along with global media trends and represent a multimedia resource, which is expected to broadcast in 34 countries and 130 cities. There will be “radio, online, mobile, social media newswire. Sputnik is already very active in the social networks”, the correspondent claimed.
The new brand is expected to have hubs all around the world, with international journalists covering global, as well as local events in their countries. “For example, the hub in Washington DC will have journalists that are from the US – journalists, bloggers, photographers. So, there will be local coverage of local news and of the international news as well, with the unique angle on top stories,” Fyodorova explained.
The Sputnik official presentation was launched at 4 p.m. on Monday in Moscow. Members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the international and Russian press, and other guests attended the event.
