MOSCOW, November 14 (Sputnik) – At least 130 countries have supported the UN draft resolution on yoga’s health benefit, proposed by India.
The draft resolution for creating International Yoga Day was developed by the Indian UN delegation, and informal consultations on the subject were held in October.
The final draft gained the approval of no less than 130 countries, and it is expected that the resolution will be adopted at the next UN General Assembly session on December 10. According to the draft, International Yoga Day is to be celebrated annually on June 21, to help raise awareness of the health benefits of yoga.
The original idea to institute International Yoga Day was proposed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the previous UN General Assembly session.
