MOSCOW, November 15 (Sputnik) – David Fincher's “Gone Girl’ movie was selected as the best Hollywood film of the year at the 18th Annual Hollywood Film Awards Ceremony, which took place on Friday and officially started the American “awards season”, CBS News reports.
‘Gone Girl’ is based on a thriller novel by Gillian Flynn and narrates a story of a married couple – Nick and Amy - facing a relationship crisis. After Amy suddenly disappears on their fifth wedding anniversary, Nick becomes a major suspect in the ensuing criminal investigation, with all evidences pointing at him as the murderer of his wife. The main characters are played by Ben Affleck and British actress Rosamund Pike, known for her previous roles in “Pride and Prejudice” and “Wrath of the Titans”.

The other big winners of the ceremony were Benedict Cumberbatch, who was honored with the best “Hollywood Actor Award” for his role of a genius British mathematician in “The Imitation Game’, and Julianne Moore, receiving the best “Hollywood Actress Award” for her play in “Still Alice” Drama.

Prize for the best “Hollywood Song” was presented to Janelle Monae for "What is Love?" from "Rio 2". "How to Train Your Dragon 2" was awarded as the best “Hollywood Animation”.
