ROSTOV REGION (Russia), November 16 (Sputnik) — First trucks from the Russian humanitarian convoy that has delivered aid to Donetsk are now crossing the Russia-Ukraine border at the Matveyev Kurgan checkpoint and entering Russia’s Rostov Region, a Sputnik correspondent reports.
Earlier on Sunday, Russian Emergency Ministry said that a group of 20 trucks that has delivered the humanitarian cargo to Luhansk is also back in Russia.
The Russian convoy consists of more than 70 trucks that have delivered over 450 metric tons of humanitarian aid including the electric equipment, spare parts and building materials to the cities of Donetsk and Luhansk.
The convoy, formed at the request of Donetsk and Luhanks authorities is the seventh Russia has sent to Donbas.
The previous six Russian convoys have delivered some 8,000 tons of food, water, power generators and medication, as well as warm clothes and winter supplies for the residents of the war-ridden Donetsk and Luhansk ahead of the approaching winter.
In April, Kiev forces started military operation against independence supporters in eastern Ukraine, which has claimed the lives of over 4,100 people. On September 5, the conflicting sides reached a ceasefire agreement at a Contact Group meeting in Minsk.
Due to the numerous violations of the Minsk agreement, Ukraine's southeastern regions are mired in a severe humanitarian catastrophe, as many citizens are struggling without clean water, electricity and other essentials.
