BRUSSELS, November 17 (Sputnik) – The European Union's calls for reforms in Ukraine show that the Kiev government fails to take measures they had promised to Brussels, Russia's EU envoy Vladimir Chizhov said Monday.
"The EU ministers have intensified their signals about reforms to Kiev. Apparently, they have realized that no reforms currently take place, including the reforms that were previously promised to the European Union," he said.
On Monday, European Union foreign ministers met in Brussels to discuss the situation in eastern Ukraine. In its concluding document, the Foreign Affairs Council has called on the Ukrainian government to intensify "much needed political and economic reforms in Ukraine, including constitutional reform, decentralisation, reform of the judiciary, law enforcement, fight against corruption and ensuring the rights of persons belonging to national minorities."
Earlier today, the European Union and Ukraine signed an agreement to launch an EU advisory mission which will assist Kiev in rebuilding the country's civilian security sector, including the police system.
