When people overhear others complaining about the US President justifying a Mideast war because of non-existent WMDs, they probably think of Bush, right? Well, the times they are a changin’, because Obama’s playing the same game now. “If we discovered that [ISIL] had gotten possession of a nuclear weapon, and we had to run an operation to get it out of their hands, then, yes, I would order it”, claimed the US leader, in reference to deploying boots on the ground in the Mideast — something he previously assured Americans he would never do.
The Nuclear Bogeyman
Obama knows that nukes are seen as the ultimate ‘bad guy’s’ weapon, so by even speculating that ISIL could one day get their hands on one, he’s scaring millions of Americans into supporting any military operation he orders against them. Bush did the same thing when he lied about Saddam having a nuclear weapons program, and most people remember how well that turned out.
Fool Me Twice
It’s impossible for ISIL to get nuclear weapons because no country in the region has them besides Israel, which the terrorist group has coincidentally refrained from threatening or attacking. So in this case, the only ‘nukes’ they’d have would be the ones Obama and friends claim they have, which in typical Bush fashion won’t be supported with a single shred of evidence besides pleas to “trust me”. If Obama does decide to play this card, expect John Kerry to pull massive theatrics at the UN just like Colin Powell did.
An Axe To Grind With Assad
This whole episode looks like Obama is desperately gunning for war with Assad one way or another, likely because he feels slighted that he was stopped from doing so last year. This really reeks of Bush, since the former president was also obsessed with deposing a Mideast leader, namely Saddam Hussein, and eventually went to war on false WMD grounds to do so.
