ANKARA, November 18 (Sputnik) — The government of Finland considers Russia a reliable supplier of natural gas and has no plans to end its cooperation with Moscow, Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Erkki Tuomioja said Tuesday.
"Finland has been purchasing Russian gas for the last 40 years and never had any problems neither with the prices, nor with the deliveries. Russia is the only natural gas supplier for Finland. There are no reasons to end cooperation with Russia," Tuomioja, said at a press conference in Ankara, Turkey.
Tuoioja added, however, that Finland would feel more comfortable if it had other gas suppliers as well. In this regard the minister mentioned the talks between Finland and Estonia on construction of a liquefied gas terminal.
The leaders of several states of Eastern Europe repeatedly state the need to diversify their gas supplies. But according to Reuters reports, Lithuania, for example is likely to pay at least 10 percent more for liquefied natural gas imported from Norway than for Russian pipeline gas in 2015.
