MOSCOW, November 19 (Sputnik) — US President Barack Obama is expected to announce details of his executive action plan on immigration on November 21, CNBC broadcaster said Wednesday.
"Obama plans to announce an executive order in Las Vegas on Friday to address immigration reform," CNBC reported.
Some five million undocumented immigrants — around 40 percent of the nation’s 11.7 million unauthorized immigrant population — will be granted legal status and provided with work permits if Obama takes the broadest option, according to media reports.
Obama stated earlier this month that he would do everything legally possible through executive action to improve the immigration system.
The US President has promised to act on immigration reform by the end of 2014, but Republicans have said in response that they would go as far as impeaching the president if he uses his executive authority.
