Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have not yet discussed the ways to solve disputable issues over Tehran's nuclear program, the organization's Director General Yukiya Amano stated.

MOSCOW, November 20 (Sputnik) — Iran has not yet submitted any proposals for practical solutions to resolve disputable issues over its nuclear program to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the organization's Director General Yukiya Amano said in a statement Thursday.

“Since my last report to the Board, Iran and the Agency have held technical meetings on two separate occasions in Tehran to discuss the two outstanding practical measures agreed in May in the third step of the Framework for Cooperation. Iran has not provided any explanations that enable the Agency to clarify the outstanding practical measures, nor has it proposed any new practical measures in the next step of the Framework for Cooperation, despite several requests from the Agency,” Amano said in the statement published on IAEA’s website.

Amano also said that the IAEA is ready to accelerate the resolution of all outstanding issues, and called on Tehran to provide the necessary assistance.

“I call upon Iran to increase its cooperation with the Agency and to provide timely access to all relevant information, documentation, sites, material and personnel,” Amano stated.

The West and Israel have long accused Iran of attempting to develop a nuclear weapon under the guise of a civilian nuclear program, while Tehran argues that its nuclear development is aimed purely at meeting the country's growing energy needs and achieving other peaceful goals.

In November 2013, during talks held in Geneva, the P5+1 group of international mediators comprising Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, China, and Germany agreed to reach a deal with the Tehran delegation guaranteeing the peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program by July 2014. The deadline for the agreement was later postponed to November 24, 2014.

The final round of Tehran's talks with the group of six world powers kicked off in Vienna on Tuesday.
