MOSCOW, November 21 (Sputnik) — The Open Arctic scientific conference was launched on the first day of the ‘Arctic Days in Moscow’ festival held at the Central House of Scientists of the Russian Academy of Science.
There are four sessions listed in the conference program: “Complex study of Arctic as a foundation of the region’s steady development”, “Sustainable management of natural resources in the Arctic region”, “Prospects of geological study and exploration of Arctic mineral resources” and “Arctic: yesterday, today, tomorrow”.
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin made an address to the festival participants. “During serious, professional discussions Russian and foreign participants will explore the issues related to the development of Arctic, to preservation of the region’s vast historical, cultural and ethnographical legacy, as well as to the implementation of large-scale investment projects. I’m certain that the festival will help resolve the pressing issues of the Arctic territories’ comprehensive development; will support public, humanitarian dialogue in this important sphere; will become a ground for new useful projects and initiatives,” a telegram issued by the president said.
