KIEV, November 21 (Sputnik) – The new coalition government in Ukraine should be formed in the coming six days, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said Friday.
“Within six days we should complete the process of forming a coalition government, reach all compromises,” he said after talks with US Vice President Joe Biden.
Ukrainian lawmaker Volodymyr Groysman said earlier this week that the parliament was set to hold its first session on November 27.
Last week, Poroshenko's party published a draft coalition agreement on its website, which, according to the website, had been drafted together with the People's Front party, the Samopomich (Self-Help) party, former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko's Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) party and the nationalist Radical Party that also made gains in the parliamentary elections.
On Friday, November 21, all five parties initialed the coalition agreement which means that the text of the document cannot be changed until the moment it is signed, which is expected to take place on November 27.
Following a vote on October 26, the formation of a new coalition has been underway in Ukraine. The five parties and the Opposition Bloc have secured representation in the country's parliament, the Verkhovna Rada.
