MOSCOW, November 21 (Sputnik) — Turkey is set to allocate $5 to help fight the Ebola virus outbreak in West Africa, the country’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Friday.
“We can see once again that cooperation in the health field is extremely important, as these are tumultuous times because of the Ebola epidemic,” Erdogan was cited as saying by the Anadolu news agency.
The Turkish president is currently taking part in the second Africa-Turkey Summit in Equatorial Guinea's capital Malabo.
The worst Ebola epidemic in history is currently taking place in West Africa. The outbreak has claimed 5,459 lives, according to the latest WHO estimates, and 15,351 cases of confirmed, probable and suspected infection have been registered.
