MOSCOW, November 24 (Sputnik) – Senior Russian and American diplomats discussed at the meeting in Vienna, Monday how Ukraine reconciliation agreements are being put into practice, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry "have held an intense exchange of opinions on the situation in Ukraine, including the process of putting the Minsk reconciliation agreements into practice," the ministry said in a statement.
Relations between Russia and the United States have soured in light of the Ukrainian crisis, with the United States and other Western countries accusing Russia of interfering in Ukraine's internal affairs, a claim repeatedly denied by Moscow.
The crisis in eastern Ukraine escalated in mid-April when Kiev launched a military operation against independence supporters there. The conflicting sides reached a ceasefire agreement in September, but have since routinely accused each other of violating the truce.
