According to the website, the draft law has been introduced by People's Front party lawmaker and former parliament speaker Oleksandr Turchynov.
The law on self-administration in parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, also known as the Donbas, was passed by the Ukrainian parliament on September 16, following the September 5 ceasefire agreement between Kiev and independence supporters of eastern Ukraine.
The law granted Donbas a special status, guaranteed the right to use Russian or any other language and scheduled local elections for December 7.
However, the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics have laid claim over the whole territories within respective Ukrainian administrative entities, and held elections for the heads of local governments and representatives of legislative bodies on November 2.
Following the vote, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko dismissed the elections as illegal and announced his plans to to scrap the special status of the Donbas.
