UNITED NATIONS, November 28 (Sputnik) – The UN Security Council members condemn the attack against a United Kingdom embassy vehicle in Kabul, the Press Statement said.
The UN Security Council “condemned in the strongest terms the attack on November 27 in Kabul which resulted in a number of deaths and injuries to civilians and security personnel, for which the Taliban has claimed responsibility,” the statement said Thursday.
The members of the Security Council expressed their concern over Taliban and al-Qaida activities threatening local population, national and international security forces in Afghanistan.
Calling for accountability, the members of the Security Council “underlined the need to bring perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism to justice, and urged all States, in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, to cooperate actively with the Afghan authorities in this regard.”
In the UN Security Council, where Australia has been put in charge of draft resolutions about Afghanistan, the Australian Mission to the UN signals it is working on a proposal about future security arrangements in the country.
The Security Council members concluded their statement saying “no terrorist act can reverse the path towards Afghan-led peace, democracy and stability in Afghanistan, which is supported by the people and the Government of Afghanistan and by the international community.”
On Thursday, a British embassy vehicle was attacked by a suicide bomber in Kabul. According to the reports, five people died and 34 were injured.
