This will be Rourke’s ninth professional boxing match. He has won six of his previous bouts (four of them by knock out), while two matches ended in a draw. Rourke, who is now 62, won his first amateur boxing match at the age of twelve.
In 1997 Rourke got a lead role in the movie "Double Team," which led him to hang up his boxing gloves. This will be the first professional boxing match for Mickey Rourke since 1994.
"When you are older, you can't be so aggressive, you're older and you have to learn to use the defense and wear the other guy down a little bit, you learn to fight with your head," Rourke told journalists ahead of the match.
His opponent, a 29-year old American boxer, has lost nine out of the ten professional boxing matches he has participated in.
In August, Rourke visited Moscow and expressed his support for Russian President Vladimir Putin by wearing a T-shirt bearing the president's image.
In his acting career, Rourke took on over 50 roles and received several awards, including the Golden Globe and BAFTA awards for his role in "The Wrestler".
