"Yesterday was our second-highest online sales day ever," Laura Phillips said in a statement published on Walmart's website.
"Throughout the day, we welcomed more than 22 million customers to our stores – that's more than the number of people who visit Disneyland in an entire year," she said.
Phillips noted that the company's Black Friday weekend is continuing in anticipation of the biggest Cyber Monday event ever, which marks a period of large discounts in Walmart stores ahead of the winter holiday season.
Walmart is a US retailer with 11,000 stores in 27 countries and e-commerce websites in 11 countries and a customer base of more than 245 million on a weekly basis, according to the company's website. Walmart employs 2.2 million associates around the world and reported sales of some $473 billion in the 2014 fiscal year.
