Time Person of the Year 2014: Indian PM Modi Leads, Putin Ranks Fifth
MOSCOW, November 30 (Sputnik) — Ferguson protesters are leading in the annual "Person of the Year" poll by Time magazine on Sunday, with seven days left before the voting ends.

Ferguson protesters are currently leading with 10.6 percent of votes, as published on Time's website. Narendra Modi, India's newly elected prime minister, is on the second position, followed by Joshua Wong, a Hong Kong student activist, Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist for female education and a Nobel Prize winner, and Russia's President Vladimir Putin coming fifth. Doctors and nurses fighting Ebola virus are now on the sixth place with 4.4 percent.

On Monday, the Ferguson grand jury decided not to bring charges against Darren Wilson, a white police officer who shot and killed African-American 18-year old Michael Brown in Ferguson in August. The controversial jury decision led to massive protests that swept across 180 US cities of 38 different states. People also protested against the grand jury's decision in the United Kingdom.

Tensions over a grand jury decision continued on Thanksgiving Day and so-called Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year.
