Amid protests all across the United States, four members of Congress did "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" gesture on the House floor. The act has been widely discussed with some criticizing the members of Congress.

MOSCOW, December 2 (Sputnik) – Four members of the Congressional Black Caucus preformed the “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” gesture Tuesday on the House floor to show their solidarity with protesters in Ferguson, the New York Daily reported.

Reps. Hakeem Jeffries, Yvette Clarke, Sheila Jackson Lee and Al Green said the gesture symbolized their outrage over the death of Michael Brown, the Daily Mail said.

St. Louis Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey (12), wide receiver Tavon Austin (11), tight end Jared Cook (89), wide receiver Chris Givens (13) and wide receiver Kenny Britt (81) put their hands up to show support for Michael Brown before a game against the Oakland Raiders at the Edward Jones Dome in St Louis November 30, 2014. - Sputnik International

“’Hands up, don’t shoot’ is a rallying cry of people all across America who are fed up with police violence in… communities all across America,” Jeffries said, as quoted by Daily News.

Reps. Lee and Green also showed praise for players of St. Louis Rams, who on Sunday walked onto the field holding their hands up in support of the protests. “I saw this clip where the Rams players came into the arena: ‘Hands up; don’t shoot’… this has become the new symbol, a new statement,” Green said, quoted by the New York Daily News.

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough called the decision by the members of Congress to show the gesture “a disgrace”.

“What is wrong with this country? What is wrong with these people? What’s wrong with these elected officials, they know it’s a lie. They know the cops didn’t shoot him with his hands in the air. They know it’s a lie and they’re doing this on that Capital floor?”, Scarborough ranted during Morning Joe Show.

The gesture has become widely popular all across the country as the display of alliance with protesters in Ferguson, who are outraged by the grand jury’s last week decision not to indict Darren Wilson in the death of Michael Brown.
