MOSCOW, December 3 (Sputnik) — A suicide attacker drove an explosive-laden vehicle into the residence of the Iranian envoy in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa, leaving three guards from Yemen and Iran dead, Reuters reports, citing a Yemeni security official.
The explosion has also left three people injured, according to soldier Abdullah Mahmoud. The building was also damaged, as well as nearby houses and cars.
Hassan Sayed Nam, Iran’s ambassador to Yemen, was not in the residence at the time of the explosion, AFP reports. The diplomatic district of Hada is reportedly well-guarded.
Tensions have been on the rise in Sanaa after Shiite Huthi militia overran the Yemeni capital in September.
