MOSCOW, December 5 (Sputnik) – Fabio Capello, the head coach of the Russian national football team, said Friday he did not quit after Russia’s poor performance at the 2014 FIFA World Cup as it would have meant surrender and defeat.
Capello explained in his remarks distributed by the football team’s press service that big victories were especially valuable when they were won in a challenging fight. The coach said that he was going to continue fighting for team’s better results.
Fabio Capello took over the Russian national team in July 2012 on a two-year contract, helping the squad qualify to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil for the first time after a 12-year break. His contract has been extended to four more years in January.
