MOSCOW, December 10 (Sputnik) – An unknown man disrupted the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony on Wednesday by waving a Mexican flag, the International News reports.
While Pakistan’s Malala Yousafzai and India’s Kailash Satyarthi were receiving their prizes to loud applauses from the audience, the man started to wave the Mexican flag in front of the Nobel laureates for reasons unknown, the source said.
The police have arrested the man. “The place is under control and police are looking into the events,” said the Oslo police in a statement, as quoted by International News.
Meanwhile, Masala Yousafzai became the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. She is widely known for being shot and almost killed by the Taliban for working to promote girls’ right to receive education. The Indian national Satyarthi, with whom Yousafzai has shared her Nobel Peace Prize, has been fighting to free thousands of children from slave labor, the Daily Mail said.
