Tech-industry giants including Facebook, Google and Yahoo will also develop new solutions to prevent the spread of child sex abuse images via their services. They will focus on using hashing technology to track down offenders, according to the press release.

The distribution of obscene images of children in the United Kingdom has nearly doubled since 2010. Over 1,000 alleged pedophiles were arrested in Britain over the last year, according to the prime minister's Office.
