According to a statement published on the Prime Minister's Office website, during his Thursday meeting with eminent economists from the United States, Prime Minister Modi said that "there would be a youth-centric focus to all policies of his Government, as 65 percent of India's population is below the age of 35. Therefore, skill development and job creation would continue to be accorded the topmost priority."
According to Modi, the government's focus on infrastructure development and the "Digital India" project, designed to connect the remote parts of the country to the Internet, would also contribute to the creation of more jobs.
Modi's meeting with the US economists comes ahead of the 16th Neemrana Conference scheduled for December 12. The annual Neemrana conference is India's most prestigious international economic forum devoted to major development issues, including the labor market, demographics, education, infrastructure and the environment.
