“Targeting civilians for attack is reprehensible and a clear violation of international humanitarian law (IHL), amounting to war crimes. It is crucial that those responsible are brought to justice,” Amnesty International quoted Horia Mosadiq, Afghanistan Researcher at the organization, as saying on Friday.
The attacks in Afghanistan now occur more often, as international troops stationed in the country prepare to pull out by the end of the year. The most recent attack at Isteqlal High School Theatre in Kabul has killed one and injured about a dozen civilians, Amnesty International said.
Afghanistan has long been fighting the Taliban movement as well as other insurgent groups that control large swathes of the country. Terrorism associated with the rebel groups' activities is now one of the most significant problems for Afghanistan, as the country suffers from ongoing terrorist attacks.
