MOSCOW, December 15 (Sputnik) — Six Aboriginal students graduated this year with a degree in medicine from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), setting a new record for the institution, ABC News reports.
The university is actively seeking to recruit more Aboriginal students to study medicine as, according to Justine Brindle from UNSW, "more indigenous people are likely to go to a doctor if they know they're indigenous."
There are currently 49 students enrolled in the UNSW program, ABC News adds. The majority of the graduates will go on to work in regional communities.
