MOSCOW, December 18 (Sputnik) — The contract for the delivery of Russian gas to China is not detrimental for any side, even despite mutual discounts, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday.
“As for the contract with China, it is not detrimental. I want to stress, both sides agreed to discounts, and this is true,” the Russian president said during the annual press conference.
Putin did not specify the details on the discounts, but stressed that the project turned out to be "undoubtedly profitable" for both Beijing and Moscow.
Gazprom and China’s CNPC this May signed a 30-year contract stipulating the delivery of 38 billion cubic meters of Russian gas to China via the Eastern route (Power of Siberia). In October the sides signed a corresponding intergovernmental agreement.
