"We are most likely to sell 147 [billion cubic meters of gas] this year," he told journalists.
The chairman stated that in the last few years annual gas sales have always been at least 140 billion cubic meters. The only exception was 2009, when 137 billion cubic meters of gas was exported due to the European crisis.
"There is and will be a demand for gas. There is only one thing – Europe has to determine its policies regarding natural gas, as natural gas does not have any privileges, but often is in a discriminatory position," Medvedev said.
Gazprom is the largest extractor of natural gas in the world. The company sold 161.5 billion cubic meters of gas to European consumers last year. It had been predicted previously that no less than 157 billion cubic meters of gas would be sold abroad in 2014.
