MOSCOW, December 22 (Sputnik) — The prices for Apple gadgets have been marked up by more than 30 percent after the corporation's online store reopened in Russia, the official site revealed Monday.
The cost of the latest iPhone models rose by almost 35 percent. In particular, the price for the most basic configuration of the iPhone 6 has risen from 39,900 to 53,900 rubles (from $706 to $954), while the cost of the iPhone 6 Plus has reached 61,900 ($1,095).
The Russian online Apple store briefly suspended operations last week. The move was explained by the need to revise prices due to the sharp fluctuations of the ruble.
Apple also increased its prices in Russia on November 26. At the time, the increases averaged 15-20 percent. On December 16, Samsung followed its principal competitor's lead, also increasing retail prices for a number of different Galaxy mobile devices in Russia.
